Market News

Hello!

Feels like summer is here! The vegetables are growing, as are the weeds! We’ve got a great selection of veggies this week – lots of variety and should have quantity for all! Please remember that if we sell out of something to let us know in the comments section of your order if you would like some of that item. Most of the time we can fulfill requests!

The strawberries are done but we will have organic blackberries and blueberries coming soon!

We appreciate you bringing us back any of the strawberry containers, plastic bags, or egg cartons we give to you. However, please do not bring us those items from other places. We do not reuse berry containers such as from Trader Joes, and it is just extra work for us to separate them out and recycle them. Also, please remember to bring us back your bags!!

The Bloomy Rind is off this week after a super packed weekend at the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival! They will be back next week!

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday! Thank you so much for all your support!

Dawson Local Harvest:  BBQ Fixins Back on the Menu!

Dawson Local Harvest for June 10th

BBQ Fixins Back on the Menu!

HI EVERYONE!

I know a number of our customers are big on Barbecue, which they consider a southern art form (I’m one of them). So there’s good news in that FIVE HENS FARMS has fresh Pork coming in this week. The first items in are all perfect for BBQ, and include both Boston Butt and Picnic Roast (both great for pulled pork) and Spare Ribs which are just begging to be grilled. I don’t know about quantities yet, so you might want to go ahead and get ’em (and maybe a spare for the 4th of July holiday). FIVE HENS has also added Detroit Suprem Red Beets to the Vegetable lineup. Check The Market for availabilities.
A sidenote: Send a thought towards Jack Forster of 5 HENS who is undergoing back surgery tomorrow. Best wishes, Jack.

FRESH SHRIMP RETURNS! After a short hiatus fresh wild-caught Georgia White Shrimp from TOM’S AWESOME SHRIMP is again on the Menu. It’s ultra-fresh and ultra-good.

In Produce News LEILANI’S has added crisp and delicious Broccoli this week, along with Golden Beets (yes, gold!). LAST CALL! With the approaching heat of summer Cool-weather Vegetables are on the edge of disappearing until next Fall. All of the wonderful Lettuces, Kale, Collards, Carrots, and more only have a couple of weeks of viability left, so you need to act now and order your favorites while you still can!

THE MARKET IS NOW OPEN!

REMEMBER! You can now order until Tuesday night at 9pm. Pick up your order at Leilani’s Gardens Friday afternoons from 4 to 7pm.

You’ll find the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST at http://dawsonville.locallygrown.net

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible! We guarantee your satisfaction with all products in the DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST.

Have a happy and healthy week!

The Wednesday Market:  Place Your Orders Now

Good afternoon.

The produce the farmers are bringing to market is just beautiful, and our growing season is now in full swing! I am still looking forward to the first fuzzy peach of the season, though, and I cannot wait until the big juicy tomatoes are ripe.

At our house, we are nurturing a tiny plot of earth with one tomato plant (with three green tomatoes!), a squash plant, two stalks of corn, two lima bean sprouts, a cucumber plant, a pepper plant and a squash plant. We have lined the walkway to the front door with pots of herbs including parsley, basil, thyme, rosemary, and sage. We are looking forward to harvesting some of our own veggies. Y’all have heard me say it before, but I’ll say it again and again – I love summer!

Now, a reminder to all of our customers, farmers, vendors, producers, and readers of this weblog: We love hearing from you and are here to answer your questions and help you use the ordering system. Please, please, please, PLEASE when you contact us by email, include your name, email address, and a phone number at the end of your email. I have received several emails lately that did not include any contact information, and so I have not been able to respond. Emails sent to The Wednesday Market are electronically forwarded to me and the other managers, but do not retain the original “from” email address. By including your contact information, you can be sure that we will be able to respond to your questions and concerns.

Thank you for supporting locally grown agriculture and for choosing to purchase locally. We are going to have a great summer!

Thanks,

Beverly
