Cedar Grove Farm:  CSA Availability for 10/29 news about day & pickup change for boxes

Hi everyone,

This Wednesday is our last market at the downtown location and we will be changing the pickup days to Friday afternoon or Saturday morning at the market. Since we will no longer be harvesting on Wednesdays, it made the most sense for us to do the CSA boxes on Friday when we are harvesting for Saturday morning. We are still figuring out the best time for pick-ups on Friday and will let you know before next week.

The market is open for business. Enjoy the offerings!

Cedar Grove Farm

DeForest, WI:  Availability for Week of October 26

This week Bauman’s Natural Meats and Pheasants are again offering some of their products. This could be the last time of the season that they will be listed on DeForest Locally Grown. Baumans come to the Madison area all winter. If you would like to be included on their e-mail list, send them an email asking to be added.
Rusty Dog Coffee would make a great gift or take-along for upcoming family get-togethers!
Forest Run Farm continues to offer their salad fixin’s.
Please remember that the farm stand hours are 4-6pm. Sunset Friday is at 5:51. Please try to arrive during daylight so we can get our chickens tucked into bed before it is too dark.

Market News

Hello!

Hope you all got to enjoy some of this beautiful Indian summer we are having. Last year at this time we had already had a hard freeze, where the night temperature dropped below 30 degrees. It looks to be awhile before we hit that mark! It’s lovely work weather these days and great to have the extra time to get chores done before the cold weather sets in.

Flowers are back this week – colorful Fall sweetheart bouquets, rich with the seasons last marigolds, zinnias, calendula, cosmos and gomphrena. It’s been a great season of flowers, and if you’d like to treat yourself once more this is your opportunity!

We’ve got lots of nice veggies for you this week. We’ll continue to have a nice variety of cold hardy greens, lettuces, roots, and storage veggies right into winter. Last winter was very cold and we did take a few weeks off in the middle, but who knows what this winter may hold. Our intent is to grow and sell to you year round, providing you access to the freshest and highest quality vegetables, meats, eggs and other goods around.

Thanks so much for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

John and Tallahassee

Siloam Springs, AR:  Winter Market Officially Opens Today!

We ended the open air market season with the most beautiful, sunny, warm weather I’ve ever recalled experiencing in October. A group of us went to 28 Springs for lunch afterwards and we all commented about how we had the best weather for the open air market this season. All are thankful for new vendors, old and new customers and support from 28 Springs, Inn at the Springs, Fratelli’s Pizza and Cafe on Broadway.

We are truly excited about entering into our 2nd season with the online market. Being able to bring fresh produce, pastured meats, farm fresh eggs, baked goods, crafts and live plants to our community throughout the fall and winter months is amazing! We have great people working hard to bring locally grown, locally made items to you!

Those participating this season are:

Create 4 Good – Melissa Null

East Side Acres – Astrid Soto

Greener Pastures Products – Mica Parks

J.D. Hudson Farms – Jerry Hudson

Opossum Hollow Produce – Thomas Fairbanks

Patty’s Pantry – Patty Gambill

Perennial Gardens – Shelly Koski

R Family Farm – Roger and Jennifer Remington

Skopp Bakery – Rikki Skopp and family

Susi’s Kitchen – Susi Gilbert

The Bread Basket – Brenda Welch

You can still place an order online Sunday through Wednesday at 5 p.m. Pick up will be on Saturday morning, 9 to 11:00 a.m. at the Main Street Siloam Springs office, located at 103 E Alpine St, Ste 2, Siloam Springs, AR. The parking lot is not available for parking – please park on the street. Market management feels there should be plenty of street parking at that time of morning. If you require assistance carrying your purchase to the car we will most definitely help you.

When you click the market tab it will open up the market with all products listed in alphabetical order. However, on the left side is a category listing and you can click on the categories you would like to shop in and some categories will have sub-categories as well. For example, Bath and Beauty is where all the handmade soaps, lotions, laundry soaps, etc. are listed. Clicking Processed Foods will open up the listing of jams and jellies and categories of other products that we hope someday to be able to find a vendor that is permitted to make those foods.

There are 12 different types of produce listed, 10 herbs, honey, a wide variety of pastured beef, pork, poultry and sometimes goat meat, tasty baked goods, wonderful homemade jams and jellies and handmade crafts, soaps, and personal care products.

We look forward to seeing everyone through the winter! Remember, don’t hesitate to ask one of our farmers, bakers, crafters about something you would like to see sold or if you have a special request. You can access their email address by clicking the Our Growers tab. They welcome your ideas and requests.

See you Saturday morning!

~Stacy
