Champaign, OH:  New Kid In Town

There’s talk on the street, it sounds so familiar…
Great expectations, everybody’s watching you…
People you meet they all seem to know you…
Even your old friends treat you like you’re something new…
(The Eagles-New Kid In Town)

Sometimes, this little local market of love seems like it’s been around, forever. Other times, we still feel like the new kid in town.

There is a whole lot of talk about what we do, a whole lot of interest, and a whole lot of love generated by those who really do know us.

I feel like we set out, each week, to prove ourselves. Still a bit of mystery, a bit of illusion…just like the new kid in town. Excitement surrounds the new kid. The new kid sets out to make his mark. The new kid always feels like he has something to show or something to prove.

We totally understand…in our first three years of this market, we are STILL doing all of those things. We have been out there, dazzling, enticing, explaining, showing, doing, pleasing…

We are the new kids who have finally made it into the inner circle. We are the market that everyone has grown to know and to love. We are the little market of love that has grown so big that we no longer feel like the new kids.

We came, we saw, we are conquering. This is our weekend, coming up! It’s our time to let this little market shine!! The spotlight is going to be on all things local, on the people who bring you local, and on the local philosophy that we are about. We don’t just talk about being local. We don’t just use local because it’s trendy or the new catchphrase. We do local as a lifestyle. We do local because it’s all we know. We do local because it let’s us give you the local love.

Local is important. Local is healthy, local is cost effective, local fuels our community both financially and spiritually.

This market shines, is no longer the new kid in town, and is exceeding all expectations because of the local loyalty that you all show us.

Thank you for your part in our climb, in our goal reaching, in our vision planning. We love you for making us strong, each and every week, for making us feel welcome, for making us feel like we are making a difference, and for rocking the new kid into new stratospheres.

I open the market, tonight, with so much local pride, spirit, and love!

We are no longer the new kids…we are here to stay!!

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam

Local Farms First:  The Market is Open for Business!

Greetings Local Farms First Food Lovers,

We have a new product on the market this week grown by Rain Crow Farm: celeriac, an little-known, and under-appreciated vegetable! It may look funny, but celeriac is a delicious variety of celery cultivated for its root and a popular storage crop.

A tasty way to prepare celeriac is by grating it with other veggies to include in a coleslaw. Pick up a celeriac on the market and try this recipe for a simple celeriac red cabbage slaw.

Enjoy!

Thanks for supporting local family farms,
Erin Griffin- Market Manager

Open House- JavaGenesis- This Sunday!

If you’re a coffee lover or just interested in how coffee is roasted you won’t want to miss this event!

Join JavaGenesis Coffee Roasting on Sunday, October 12 between 10am and 3pm for an Open House. They are located at 741 Harry McCarty Road, Unit 102, Bethlehem, GA 30620. (off University Parkway (Hwy 316)).

They will do a few rounds at the cupping table, roast some coffee (Tom will even turn over the controls to a volunteer), drink lots of coffee and share with you what they do and how they do it.

Of course due to its wild popularity…there will again be espresso shots over ice cream.

Kids are welcome and can enjoy some ice cream too… of course without the shot of espresso :-)

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Not sure if you noticed above but we have good news!! The Market is extending their hours! You spoke and we heard!! The Market will now be open from 4:00 to 7:00pm!
Having said that, if you place an order with us, PLEASE remember to pick it up on Tuesday. As I am so grateful for your orders, I also have a family at home waiting on me too! We cannot hold orders, especially cold items due to limited refrigeration space, so please be courteous and come for your order.

The cooler weather has been very exciting! I’m so ready for the changing of the leaves and all their bright colors!

I mentioned before that we are expanding the Market and adding new items!
Remember we have Kombucha available! If you are not familiar with it, Kombucha is a naturally fermented tea with natural probiotics! It has been around for centuries originating in Asia. It is said to have healing properties and because it is naturally fermented, is a great support for the digestive system. When your here, ask me for a sample! I’d love your feedback!

Heirloom Living Market Hamilton Mill:  Group Buy Cod Liver Oil and some other Great News!

Greetings All:

Really Great News

Although Marie of Bakery on Brooks has been very busy with her volunteer position, she generously found time to bake some items for the Gluten Free Members this week! Yay! Marie’s goodies will be available on the Farmers’ Sale Table at your Market! Get there early for pickup or you will miss out!

This week at Market we will be taking orders for Green Pasture Products. They offer Fermented Cod Liver Oil, Skate Oil, X-Factor Butter Oil, Coconut Oil Blend infused with Cod Liver Oil, Skate Oil and the X-Factor Butter Oil, Pure Virgin Coconut Oil and Ghee.

You can open the Price List and Order Form by clicking Price List and Order Sheet

I did my best to make the document easy to understand by Listing the products under categories. The price listed DOES include shipping and you are saving about 10% off the product and at least $10 in shipping if you ordered it yourself. We must have a minimum order of 12 items to get the prices that are listed on the document. All orders must be pre-paid at Market this week. I will order the product on Friday morning and we will have it at Market pickup next week, October 16th.

For those of you who already use Green Pasture Products, you are aware of the benefits; for those of you who are new to the products, I have listed some known benefits below:

1. Better stamina and improved muscle strength
2. Improves nervous system and brain functioning
3. Reduces stiffness, inflammation and joint pain
4. Reduces eczema
5. Relieves depression and anxiety
6. Improves sleeping habits
7. Improves immune system
8. Improves bone density
9. Thins blood
10. Protects arteries from damage
11. Inhibits blood clots
12. Inhibits cancer
13. Lowers LDL cholesterol and blood pressure
14. Reduces risk of heart attack and stroke
15. Relieves migraine headaches
16. Eases symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis
17. Soothes bronchial asthma
18. Reduces heart disease
19. Reduces risk of lupus
20. Combats early kidney disease

Fermented cod liver oil is sourced from organ tissues that contain high nutrient levels. Fermentation tends to transform natural vitamins into metabolites of co-factor enzymes that are easily absorbed by the body. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in cod liver oil and it contains more Vitamin A than any other common food.

The best vitamin D comes from the sun. With Winter right around the corner we will no longer be able to take advantage of playing in the dirt, swimming, golfing, riding bikes, playing tennis. Ramp up your immune system for whatever nasty little bugs that naturally come our way in colder weather.

I admit, for you newbies, Cod Liver Oil is NOT my favorite and I literally hold my breath and drink a 1/2 glass of Sam’s sweet, fresh milk to get it down everyday, but for me… it works. I noticed a difference in stamina and energy within about a week of starting on the product. For you folks who just can’t imagine the taste, the non-gel gaps are a definite option!
