ALFN Local Food Club:  Events in Local Food!

Spring has definitely sprung and it’s time to fill your calendar with all the great, local events that can’t be missed. Come see us on April 19th at the Arkansas Earth Day Foundation’s Annual Earth Day Festival. We love seeing our members out and about! And if you need a snazzy new shirt to bring to the DIY Tie Dye station, check out the CANAS T-shirts that just hit The Market. Buy it now and you can hit the tie dye booth in plenty of time to wear it with pride at the 1st Annual Spring CANAS Conference! At the CANAS Conference, you can learn how to become a part of Arkansas’ ever expanding local food community. Then on May 3rd, you can tour one of the most integral farms in that community. Falling Sky Farm is hosting an Open Farm Day. Enjoy a tour of the farm followed by a potluck picnic. RSVP to andrea@fallingskyfarm.com and you’ll get to see a successful, sustainable farm in action, get to know some of your favorite farmers, and mingle with like-minded local folk!

Whew! If just the thought of all that fun stirs up your appetite, don’t forget to get your order in before The Market closes tomorrow morning.

Jonesborough Locally Grown:  Farm to Table Tickets for 2014: two now, more later!

Hello market friends:

This week there is a unique chance to bid on a pair of Farm to Table Tickets (and this isn’t an April fool’s joke!) Two tickets will be part of the silent auction at the “Spring Tune up” for Music on the Square on Friday April 4th, 6-10pm at the Storytelling Center. The face value of the ticket will go to the market, any additional bid on these tickets will support Music on the Square. For info on the Spring Tune up, call 753-5401 or see the Spring Tune-up Facebook page.

Regular ticket sales will take place at the Farmers Market starting Saturday June 7th.

If you are a capital campaign major donor, current market vendor, volunteer, or if you have served at the Farm to Table dinner in the past…you may purchase advance tickets. Contact Karen at jbolocallygrown@gmail.com if you need more information about this process!

South Cumberland Farmer's Market:  Food Grade Water Barrels and Containers Available - Again!

The Cumberland Farmers Market and Tracy City Farmers Market managers are pleased to report that 11 55-gallon food grade barrels were delivered on Friday afternoon. Also, 5 of the 6-gallon food grade containers were also delivered. The 275-gallon totes were delayed until the end of April/beginning of May.

Because we will have to go pick up the 275-gallon totes, it is an opportunity for anyone who wants the 55-gallon barrels to order (by Tuesday, April 22nd), as we will be able to pick up that size again.

We do have extra 6-gallon containers, and Darlene Seagroves will be outside at the CFM this Tuesday (April 1st). They are $10 each and are very handy to have around the garden and house. The plus is that they are food grade, so you don’t have to worry about any nasty chemicals in them.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to take any more orders right now for the 275-gallon totes; our supplier says he will have a hard time fulfilling the orders we already have.

E-mail or call to order the barrels and containers, or stop at the CFM on Tuesday and get on the list. The deposit is $10 for the 55-gallon barrels.
