1 cup Grits
1 Minced garlic clove
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper
4 cups Water
2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup Butter
1 pound Cooked shrimp
2 Chopped tomatoes
4 Finely chopped green onions
2 tablespoons Chopped fresh parsley
4 teaspoons Lemon juice
2 or 3 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
Sliced jalapenos for topping (if desired)
Crumbled bacon for topping (if desired)
Extra cheese for topping (if desired)
Step by Step Instructions
- Place the grits, garlic, salt, pepper, and water in a slow cooker and stir them together. Cook covered on high for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the cheese and butter and let them melt. Stir in the remaining ingredients and let the grits cook for another 15 to 30 minutes.
- Serve and add any desired toppings.
